You can use Upheal when including your clients' family members or others close to them in their sessions by adding participants. Notes with additional participants will focus on the primary client, but also include insights for others.

Please note:

  • Extra participants can't be added to anonymous or couples sessions.

  • Adding participants is available for in-person, virtual, and independently recorded sessions, as well as dictation and written observations.

It isn't available for Upheal video calls or our Zoom integration.

  • This feature isn't intended for couples therapy. Instead, follow this guide.

Adding participants to a session

Make sure you collect consent for data processing from all session participants, even if they're not your clients.
πŸ“ Collecting consent from additional participants (template included)

  1. Choose an individual client, and hold your session as usual.

Make sure you're running Upheal on a device near enough to all session participants.

  2. When the session is finished, click Add participants.

  3. Enter the participant's relationship to your client, name, and pronouns.

  4. To add more participants, click Add more.

  5. When you're finished, click Done.

  6. The additional participants appear beneath the client:

The resulting note will focus on the main client's experience, but it will include input from and insights about the other session participants.

Holding a session without the primary client

If you're holding a session with a clients' family members (or others) about the client, but without the client:

  1. After your session, click Add participants.

  2. Switch off the option Client was present for this session.

Now, the note won't include the client.
