When you're holding a session on Upheal's video calling platform, you or your client might join from the phone. If you experienced an interruption, or if you look back at a session transcript and realize that something is missing, this page can help explain why. How to avoid interruptions

What interruptions might happen?

We tested interruptions on both an iPhone and an Android phone while making an Upheal video call in a web browser app. A web browser app means something like Chrome, Microsoft Edge, etc.

Audio and video should return to normal shortly after any interruption, but the transcript might not capture the missing conversation.

Incoming phone calls

If you or your client gets an incoming call and ignores it:

  • On Android: Audio gets interrupted, video might too if the phone incoming call takes up the whole phone screen

  • On iPhone: Both audio and video are interrupted

If you or your client accepts call on any phone: Both audio and video are interrupted

Text messages and notifications

If you or your client receives a text message or notification during the video call, there should be no interruptions.

Switching apps

If you or your client switches apps, letting the web browser app fall to the background:

  • On Android: Both audio and video are interrupted

  • On an iPhone: Video is interrupted, but audio isn't interrupted

Switching browser tabs

If you or your client switches to a different tab within your web browser, then video is interrupted, but audio continues, both on Android and iPhone.

How do I avoid interruptions?

To avoid any interruptions during video calls:

  • Turn on Do not disturb mode on your iPhone or Android phone

  • Don't switch apps or browser tabs during the call
