Opting out of data sharing is available on all paid plans.

Upheal asks mental health professionals and their clients for permission to use de-identified session data for product and AI improvements. You can read more about our approach to data privacy, and read the Upheal-Client Privacy Policy and Privacy Policy for healing professionals.

This is not obligatory. Mental health professionals can adjust data-sharing preferences in the app, so as not to share de-identified session data with us.

All session data is de-identified and kept private, however, we wanted to allow therapists to pre-set a preference on their client’s behalf, too. If they opt out of data sharing, clients won’t see any permission requests for data sharing.

To opt out of sharing de-identified session data

  1. Navigate to Settings in the Upheal app.

  2. Go to Practice Settings and find Data preferences.

  3. Deselect the checkbox about product and AI improvements.
